I started reading this a couple of days ago, and yes, it did take me a couple of days to get through it. But not because I didn't enjoy it. Rather because I didn't want to give it up. I was completely enthralled by Addison's character from the very first moment that she was introduced to us. "Death changes everyone." I can't even begin to imagine the pain in which she is in. All of the suffering and sorrow. And to top it off, a Father that isn't helpful in the least. She lost her mother when she was in High School. And because her dad decided to hang with Hard Liquor and give up on his life to become an Alcoholic, she had to grow up and take care of everything in her life. Mainly, her mother's business. I don't know how she was able to do it on her own. She struggles to keep it together until Zander Reinhardt starts leaving her notes on napkins at the bakery shop that she runs. There is something about the beautiful boy that calls to her. She feels comforted by him. I love that he didn't give up on her. He was extremely persistent. Very cute in the way in which he would approach her and "court" her. It was very beautiful. He woke her up from her slumber. Because of him, she decided to give life another shot and start living. The characters do have their struggles when Addison finds out what truly connects them... But, she realizes that she needs him more than anything. She gives "them" a chance. I definitely enjoyed the epilogue that we got with this book. It was beautiful. I definitely teared up on that one... |
